LSG vs DC IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals pulled out an amazing game against Lucknow Super Giants defeating them by 6 wickets, registering their second win of the season. Home side LSG looked clueless against Kuldeep and helpless against the debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk which resulted in the second loss for LSG in IPL 2024.
Opting to bat first, Lucknow got a brisk start but with near-perfect use of seam bowling, Khaleel Ahmed sent de Kock and Paddikal back to the pavilion within the batting powerplay. Kuldeep Yadav ended Stoinis’ 10-ball struggle and also bamboozled Pooran in his first ball.
For the first time in the season, the Capitals’ bowling looked threatening as they scalped 7 wickets with 13 overs before 100 runs were scored. It seemed to be all done for LSG and then Delhi boy Ayush Badoni took DC bowlers on remand and smashed a knocking half-century. He got assistance from Arshad Khan who also scored 20 runs off 16 balls.
LSG was rather confident with their 167 runs because no team in IPL history had ever chased anything more than 160 against them. In pursuit of 168, Delhi Capitals, however, lost David Warner early in the match, but Shaw and debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk took the assault to the next level.
McGurk started his IPL career with two sixes and was ably assisted by Prithvi Shaw, who attempted to assault Ravi Bishnoi but was caught in the act after hitting six fours during the powerplay. Following the powerplay, there was a pause as LSG managed four calm overs, Bishnoi leading the way. As Fraser-McGurk struggled with timing, Rishabh Pant, the captain, assumed responsibility for the game.
Fraser-McGurk smacked a hat-trick of sixes against Krunal Pandya a few overs later. To relieve some of the debutant’s burden, Rishabh Pant played a true captain’s knock, but neither player was able to hold on till the very finish. With their home dominance about to come to an end, LSG had nothing left, and Delhi secured their second victory in the TATA IPL 2024 thanks to Stubbs and Shai Hope.
