The Pakistan National Cricket Team has been in the news for the last few days. This is because, being the host, they faced a group stage exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, failing to win a single game in the entire tournament and ending last in the group stage.
Following their poor campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan National Cricket Team was criticised a lot. The entire contingent, including players, management and even higher authorities, were targeted, and there were calls for a complete overhaul of the team.
There have been several reports that claimed that the Pakistan National Cricket Team is all set to go an overhaul from the next series itself. The Men in Green will be touring New Zealand for the five-match T20I series followed by the three-match ODI series.
The PCB recently conducted a meeting to discuss the squad for the New Zealand series. However, as per the reports in Pakistan media, it is learned that, during the meeting, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi made a huge decision related to the leadership role in the team, especially in the T20I format.

The reports claimed that Shadab Khan will be the new skipper of the team and will be performing the role in the upcoming five-match T20I series against the New Zealand National Cricket Team.
The PCB Chairman recently met all the performers in domestic cricket. The reports claimed that the likes of Hassan Nawaz, Ali Raza, Abdul Samad and Akif Javed Muhammad Nafay are under consideration to be picked for the squad for the series against New Zealand.
Muhammad Haris, Sufyan Muqeem, Arafat Minhas, Irfan Khan Niazi, Zaman Khan, Mohammad Wasim, Abbas Afridi, Jahandad Khan, Agha Salman, Abrar Ahmed, Umair bin Yousuf are the other youngsters that might Don the Pakistan jersey during series.
