Having made to the playoffs last year, DC will not settle for anything less this year. Delhi Capitals is looking for a new font that could write “S-U-C-C-E-S-S” on the walls. With Saurav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting on board the coach cabin last year, DC is sure to gather it’s guns to create some fireworks this year too.
The auctions resulted in the inclusion of strong players like : Jason Roy, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey, Shimron Hetmyer, Chris Woakes, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane. A decent move I say. But, Isn’t the whole world lamenting the exit of two exotic players from this team? Do they have enough to survive this? How capable is the bowling department? Let’s analyse.
Delhi Capitals (DC) DREAM11 IPL 2020 Squad & Analysis :
Shreyas Iyer (captain), Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, Jason Roy, Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Lamichhane, Kagiso Rabada, Keemo Paul, Mohit Sharma, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, R Ashwin, Marcus Stoinis, Chris Woakes, Rishabh Pant, Alex Carey, Shimron Hetmyer, Tushar Deshpande
IPL 2020 UAE : Dehli Capitals have been concentrating on building a core centre for their team over the past couple of years. Frequent team changes were attributed to their past failures. DC had terrific bowlers on paper in the past, but failed to live up to it on the field (resulting in letting Chris Morris and Trent Boult go). This time DC seems to have a ‘problem of plenty’ when it comes to options and intelligent team selection is the key.
Delhi Capitals IPL 2020 Squad Strengths :
- A strong batting line up which can make 150 + runs : Dhawan, Iyer, Shaw, Roy, Stoinis, Pant, Hetmyer, Carey
- An “in form” all-rounder in Marcus Stoinis.
- Amit Mishra : highest wicket taking spinner
- Ravichandran Ashwin : a veteran in spin
- Kagiso Rabada has the best best bowling average among the Pace bowlers of IPL
- The very talented spinner from Nepal : Sandeep Lamichchane
Delhi Capitals IPL 2020 Squad Weaknesses :
- The Indian medium pacers are shaky and past their prime
- Death overs bowling is questionable
- Rishabh Pant’s consistency
- Chris Woakes and Jason Roy withdrawal has left a dent in the team strength
- Moreover, no replacement of equally good players (all-rounders) made till date.
- No quality back-ups in case of injured bowlers.
- Without a big score on the board, it is difficult for DC to assure wins
Delhi Capitals DREAM11 IPL 2020 Prediction
This team appears to be well balanced and will give stiff competition to RCB and SRH for the 3rd and 4rth spot in the points raking table. Out of these 3 teams, the one who slips in quality will drop out of the top 4 going into the playoffs.
DC could win their first match against KXIP on 20 September 2020.
Key Players Analysis:
Shreyas Iyer – An outstanding batsman with awesome control over his shots. He will be in the limelight after V.Kohli, Rohit Sharma and K.L.Rahul among the Indian batsmen. As a captain he is cool and is gradually learning the art of captaincy.
Shikar Dhawan – He has already proved himself as the opening batsman for India, now he is back in form in IPL.
Prithvi Shaw – Enormously talented but he has not yet proved his consistency as a successful opening batsman. Now is the chance to do it, as he will be playing most of the matches.
Ajinkya Rahane – He is being seen as a surprise selection as he is not comfortable in T20 matches. This is his opportunity to prove the critics wrong.
Hetymer – He has a key role to play in the middle order. He has been successful in that position against India in the past.
Rishab Pant – He is the batsman who can boost the score with his aggressive batting.
Alex Carey is a worthy replacement to Pant as a wicketkeeper batsman, but he may get only a few chances as Pant’s position is confirmed.
Marcus Stoinis – Another important player for DC who has once again proved his worth in the ongoing Australia vs England series.
Ravichandran Ashwin – an asset on the hard wickets of UAE. He will be a good contributor as a spinner to Delhi Capital’s victories.
Lamichchane – Another spinner is gaining international reputation gradually.
Kegiso Rabada and Kemo Paul (overseas bowlers) and Ishanth Sharma, Mohit Sharma form the pace bowlers – the performance of all of these 4 bowlers’ performance will decide how many runs the opposition team will make. Just one doing extremely well will not suffice.
The most probable playing XI of DC will be :
- 1.Shikar Dhawan
- 2.Prithvi Shaw
- 3.Shreyas Iyer
- 4.Ajinkya Rahane
- 5.Markus Stoinis
- 6.Shimron Hetmyer
- 7.Rishab Pant
- 8.R.Ashwin
- 9.Kegiso Rabada
- 10.Kemo Paul
- 11.Ishanth Sharma or Mohit Sharma
The team for the initial 2 matches will be the same except for MARCUS STOINIS, who will be replaced by AXAR PATEL.
