ENG vs AUS 4th Test: Mightly Australian have proved their mettle in the first two Ashes tests and despite losing the Leeds test, they will be holding the upper hand marching towards the 4th test at Old Trafford, Manchester. England were too good in the third test and they have decided to go with a similar squad as they had in the 3rd test.
The ENG vs AUS 4th Test will be played at Old Trafford from July 19-23. England bounced back with a three-wicket win at Headingley last week but still, Australia have the lead in the series 2-1. England must win the ENG vs AUS 4th test in Manchester to keep the series alive ahead of the fifth test at the Oval in London.
Ben Foakes was put forward as a potential replacement for Jonny Bairstow, but England has opted to stick with him as their wicketkeeper-batter for the forthcoming fourth Ashes 2023 Test at Old Trafford.
Ollie Robinson is also a member of the squad, retaining his chances of participating in the series despite suffering a back spasm during the last triumph at Headingley.
It is anticipated that England would stick with the same team composition as the Headingley Test. It is difficult to leave out top wicket-taker Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes from the selection given their noteworthy performances in the last game but rumors were spread out that there can be Anderson’s re-entry to the playing 11.
Few reports, though, indicate that England is planning to bring in James Anderson for the fourth Ashes Test after he was benched at Headingley. In order to overcome his fatigue after disappointing in the first two Ashes Tests, Anderson was dropped from playing 11. However, England captain Ben Stokes had previously stated that Anderson will play the fourth Test at home.
When asked about the experienced speedster’s absence from the third Test, Stokes told The Mirror, “It’s a good chance for Jimmy to rest up and then get ready to charge in from the Jimmy Anderson End at Old Trafford next week.”
