ENG vs SL: Root has a chance to break the long-standing record of Don Bradman’s all-time highest Test ranking points this season

ENG vs SL: England has already sealed the series, and what awaits them is the third match, which might see England experimenting as well as Joe Root fancying to take his records further.

The first two matches saw England dominate from different fronts, as both teams had some of their most eminent players performing. Though Sri Lanka could show some resistance in the first test, they highly underperformed in the second test.

Joe Root has been one of the record-breaking scorers for the English side as he leveled up his tally of most test hundreds for England alongside former skipper Alastair Cook with 33 in the first inning. While in the second inning, he again scored a tough hundred, his 34th, that took him to be England’s highest hundred-getter across all formats.

He is also only a few runs behind going past Kumara Sangakara and Alastair Cook, which will make him England’s highest run-getter; however, what awaits him is his outing against the Lankans in the final test at The Oval.

Root is now ranked the world’s no. 1 ranked ICC Test batter, with his current rating points being 922, while he has the chance of breaking Australia’s legend, Don Bradman’s long-standing record of highest ICC ranking points of 961 for the first time in nearly a century.

The English batter still has the final test of the summer at England against the Lankans and then a 3-match series against the Pakistanis at their home; both combined with his stunning form can lead him to a stature of breaking the record, which now seems invincible.

While also England made it formal that their soon-to-be 20-year-old lanky 6ft 7 inches bowler, Josh Hull, will be seen making his debut for them. He is also a part of England’s white-ball team for the Australia series, and hence his presence now needs to be felt. He likely replaces Matthew Potts from the team.
