England playing 11 for the first ODI against West Indies announced
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the playing 11 for the first ODI against the West Indies. The match between the two teams is all set to take place at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Thursday, 29th May.
England will be captained by Harry Brook as the series against West Indies will mark his first assignment as a full-time captain of the team. The Three Lions will see a new opening combination from the last time they played an ODI.
Ben Duckett will be opening the innings with Jamie Smith. This will be the first time that Smith will be opening in his career. While number three spot will be taken by Joe Root, who has been in a great run of form. Skipper Harry Brook will be taking the number four spot.
Former skipper Jos Buttler will be the keeper-batter in the team and would be keen to make a solid Impact. Jacob Bethell will be following him at six, and the batter will be holding the key for the team in all three ODIs against the West Indies National Cricket Team.
Will Jacks also be featuring in the first ODI against West Indies. The all-rounder will make a comeback to the team after a while, and he will be keen to make an impact and seal his place in the team.
The bowling department of England will comprise Jamie Overton, Saqib Mahmood and Brydon Carse, who will be the fast bowlers. Adil Rashid will be there as a specialist spinner.
England would be hoping to start the series on a high. Over the last few years, they have been having a tough time in the ODIs. However, under Harry Brook, they would want to turn things around and win.
