England’s Jason Roy likely to be out of T20 World Cup 2022, Jos Buttler & Mark Wood doubtful: In a massive setback to England cricket, star batter Jason Roy is probable to be dropped out of the upcoming tour of Pakistan and subsequently from the all-important ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Down Under in October.
The reports have emerged that Roy will be dropped from the squad due to his ill form in the recent past. During the England summer, Roy couldn’t perform to his best and struggled to get going on most occasions.
In the last six T20Is during England summer, Roy could only score 76 runs from 98 deliveries. Moreover, his form has disappointed him and the selectors in ‘The Hundred’ as well as he failed to find real fluency with the willow.
His chances to get into the England squad are further diminished following a couple of back-injury issues. He missed the last two matches for his franchise in The Hundred due to injuries.
Notably, England’s squad for the Pakistan tour is likely to be announced on Friday. England is set to travel to Pakistan for a 7-match T20I series against Pakistan, starting September 20 in Karachi.

If Roy gets an axe from the T20I squad for the Pakistan tour, he will then subsequently face an omission from England’s T20 World Cup squad.
It is important to note that, Jason Roy was part of the setup which revolutionised England’s white-ball fortune under the leadership of Eoin Morgan. Roy played an important role in England’s triumph in the 2019 ODI World Cup.
Jos Butter & Mark Wood also doubtful for Pakistan tour:
Meanwhile, premier wicketkeeper batter Jos Buttler and ace speedster Mark Wood are also racing against time to get fit for the Pakistan tour. While Buttler is recovering from a calf injury, Wood is completing his rehab and is yet to begin his training.
It was earlier reported that England’s T20I side will be led by spin-all-rounder Moeen Ali if Jos Buttler fails to prove his fitness.
