IPL 2021: English players will be available for the entire IPL 2021 says, Silverwood.
IPL 2021: England Cricket head coach Chris Silverwood on Sunday confirmed that English players will be available for the entire upcoming IPL tournament. The IPL bound English players will thereby miss out on the first few test games against New Zealand.
The fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to begin on 09th March while the final will be played on 30th May. The England-New Zealand test series begins on 02nd June.
It England goes by the quarantine rules and other protocols, players like Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Johnny Bairstow, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Eoin Morgan will have to be out of the first few test matches.
“We haven’t looked at selection for the Test yet, but, for me, playing for your country is a big thing,” Silverwood told the British media during a virtual press meet.
“It’s difficult to change anything, so they will be staying for the whole IPL as it stands at the moment,” he added.
The two matches test series between England and New Zealand was announced in January and it will not be counted in ICC World Test Championship 2021.
The schedules for the IPL 2021 were announced on Sunday, 07th March by the BCCI and the criteria of home and away games have been scrapped this time.
All the teams will play at four different venues before the playoff stages. Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Delhi and Ahmedabad are the venues. Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad will be the venue for the playoff games of IPL 2021.
Fans are restricted to enter the stadium for the first few games of IPL 2021 however the decision for further games will be taken later after accessing the situations.
