PAK vs NZ 4th T20I: Top order batters Fakhar Zaman and Usman Khan are being considered to bat at number three for the Pakistani Men’s National Cricket Team following Mohammad Rizwan’s injury and the management wants to try Rizwan at the number four position.
According to a news report from Geo News, the majority of the team management members want Rizwan’s batting position to be changed. But, skipper Babar is not in favor of this decision as he wants the 31 year old to open the inning with him if Saim Ayub fails to deliver at the top of the batting order.
Sources have also revealed that Mohammad Rizwan is not pleased with the decision of changing his batting position since he wants to open the innings for the Shaheens, a position in which he has thrived.
Fakhar Zaman has not featured in the New Zealand series yet but he is likely to play in the 4th and the 5th T20i’s due to Rizwan’s injury. Usman Khan on the other hand has scored just 12 runs in two innings so far and has failed to live up to expectations.
Mohammad Rizwan is likely to miss the remainder of the ongoing New Zealand series due to a hamstring injury he suffered while batting during the third T20I. The Men in Green’s team management is likely to make a decision on Mohammad Rizwan’s availability today post the evaluation of his medical reports.
It’s worth noting that Michale Bracewell’s New Zealand made a strong comeback in the five match T20 International series thanks to a brilliant knock from Mark Chapman who led his side to a win in the third T20i on Sunday.
The series is currently level at 1-1 with the two remaining matches scheduled to be played in the city of Lahore on 25th and 27th April respectively.
Post the conclusion of the New Zealand series, the Shaheens will play three T20 International games against Ireland and four against 2022 T20 World Cup winners England ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
