In what was a shocking development, as per the reports in Pakistan media, it was learned that Pakistan National Cricket Team batter Fakhar Zaman is all set to announce his retirement. The batter will be calling time on his career in ODIs but will continue to play in T20Is.

Fakhar Zaman's decision came after he was ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Pakistan National Cricket Team batter got injured in the first game of the tournament against New Zealand, where the hosts suffered a 60-run loss.

The reports claimed that Fakhar Zaman has been talking to his family and friends about his decision. The batter suffered an oblique injury, and hence, he convinced himself that he wouldn't be taking any further part in the ODI cricket, deciding to retire from the format.

Fakhar Zaman, however, wants to play for the Pakistan National Cricket Team in the T20Is because of his passion for the nation. With the news gaining a lot of attraction, the batter has finally addressed the issue and said that there is nothing as such in his mind related to retirement.

I heard about this [retirement rumours] a lot and even my friends messaged me about it, but there's nothing to it - Fakhar Zaman

Fakhar Zaman mentioned that all the talks are fake as he wants to play ODI cricket for as long as possible because it is his favourite format. He also provided a health update, saying that he spoke to doctor and will be back in action after one month. Speaking to PCB, he said:

"I heard about this [retirement rumours] a lot and even my friends messaged me about it, but there's nothing to it. The ODI format is my favourite format. Yes with my thyroid, there was a thing that I could take more time getting back into it.

"But I want to play T20s, ODIs, even Tests again. As far as my comeback is concerned, I spoke to the doctor and I can start playing cricket again within the month."
