ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Fans likely to be present in the stadium for the T20 World Cup 2021.

ICC T20 World Cup 2021: The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) on Thursday revealed that the board is looking to have fans back into the stadium to watch the Indian Premier League and the subsequent T20 World Cup. The board officials are in constant talks with the responsible authorities to seek permission to host fans.

UAE will host the remaining games of the Vivo IPL 2021, starting September 19. The first half of the cash-rich Indian T20 league was suspended after covid cases started to come in the bubbles. The remaining 31 games will be held in the UAE between September 17 to October 15.

The Emirates Cricket Board will also co-host the flagship ICC T20 World Cup 2021 along with Oman. The showpiece event will begin two days after the completion of the IPL 2021.

It is noteworthy that ECB hosted the thirteenth season of the IPL seamlessly in its three grounds.

“We are looking forward to hosting both the IPL once again and the T20 World Cup in the UAE. We have proven experience in hosting and delivering high-profile sporting events,” said Mubashir Usmani, General Secretary of ECB to Gulf News.

He further said that the authorities and the officials are ready to face any challenges to host the two events peacefully.

“Aside from a team with an exceptionally strong cricket administration pedigree, we have a UAE-wide team of highly experienced events and logistics companies and individuals, therefore we are confident in facing and working confidently through any challenges that may arise,” Usmani added.

Fans likely to be present for IPL 2021 and T20 World Cup:

General Secretary of ECB was confident enough to bring back fans to the stadium after a long haul. The authorities of ECB are closely working with BCCI and ICC for the same.

“As hosts, ECB will work closely with the authorities to seek approval on what protocols need to be followed – this includes fan attendance, we will then discuss it with the BCCI as well as the ICC to assess their spectator requirements.

“We want our expat and Emirati sports-loving fans in the UAE to be able to watch the action from the stands.”
