Gautam Gambhir goes hard on Yashasvi Jaiswal, and the duo engage in an animated chat ahead of the first ENG vs IND Test
Indian Cricket Team batter Yashasvi Jaiswal will hold the key for India in the upcoming test series against England. The two teams will be locking horns with each other in the five-match series, starting on 20th June at Headingley in Leeds.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been one of the finest batters for India in the Tests, didn't have the kind of start to the tour he would've wanted. The premier batter didn't look in great touch during the India A vs England Lions series as he slammed just one half-century across four innings.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was expected to set the stage on fire, returned with scores of 24, 64, 17, and 5 against the England Lions. On the other hand, Abhimanyu Easwaran, who is the third opener in the team, hit back-to-back fifties.
This surely would've put pressure on Yashasvi Jaiswal, especially with the first test around the corner. However, the pressure would've mounted more on him when head coach Gautam Gambhir was seen having an intense chat during the practice session.
Gautam Gambhir was engaged in an animated conversation with Yashasvi Jaiswal
According to reports in RevSportz, it is understood that Gautam Gambhir was engaged in an animated conversation with Yashasvi Jaiswal. The head coach had a long conversation with the batter, who, after that, spent a lot of time in the nets, playing spinners as well as fast bowlers.
Although it wasn't revealed what the exact conversation between the two was, it is speculated that Gautam Gambhir fine-tuned his batting to adjust to English conditions. Notably, this will be the first time that Jaiswal will be playing in English conditions.
The Test series between England and India will also mark the start of the new edition of the ICC World Test Championship. India will be captained by Shubman Gill, who recently was appointed as the skipper of the team after the retirement of Rohit Sharma.
