Gautam Gambhir rushes back to India from England due to...
In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in RevSportz, it is learned that the Indian Cricket Team head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has returned home. The former player rushed back home after his mother was hospitalised due to a heart attack.
Gautam Gambhir returns home just ahead of the intra-squad game between India and India A in Kent. The match is scheduled to take place on the 13th of June, and in his absence, batting coach Sitanshu Kotak and bowling coach Morne Morkel will be there to see things.
Gautam Gambhir's absence from the game will be a blow for the Indian Cricket Team. This is because he was expected to closely follow the India vs India A game. The game would've been extremely crucial as it would have allowed team management to identify the players for the first game against England.
Gautam Gambhir, who reached England on June 7, missed India’s net session on June 12, too, and is no longer with the squad. But the reports in RevSportz claimed that he will be back by the time the first game of the series begins at Headingley in Leeds on 20th June.
The series will hold great value for Gautam Gambhir, and he would be keen to make an impact. He has had a tough time as the coach in the Test as under him, India lost the series at home, facing a whitewash against New Zealand and then facing a 3-1 thrashing against Australia.
If we make sacrifices, if we start fighting, not every day, but every session, every hour and every ball, I think we can have a memorable tour - Gautam Gambhir
Recently, Gautam Gambhir shared his take on the upcoming England series. He welcomed all the players in the team and shared a motivational speech, saying:
"All I want to say is there are two ways of looking at this group. One is that we are without our three most experienced players, or we’ve got this phenomenal opportunity to do something special,"
“And when I look around this group, the hunger, the passion and the commitment to do something special… If we make sacrifices, if we come out of our comfort zones, if we start fighting, not every day, but every session, every hour and every ball, I think we can have a memorable tour. So, make sure we start that today. Start enjoying playing for the country because there’s no bigger honour," he said in a video posted by BCCI."
