GT vs DC: Gujarat Titans Clinch Thrilling Chase Against Delhi Capitals | Match Number 35 IPL 2025

GT vs DC: Gujarat Titans registered a thrilling seven-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals in Match 35 of the IPL 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, GT were set a challenging target of 204. In response, they chased it down in 19.2 overs, thanks to a brilliant knock by Jos Buttler and a clinical finish by Rahul Tewatia, securing a memorable win with four balls to spare.

GT vs DC Match Summary

The home team, Gujarat Titans, won the toss and chose to bowl first, unaware of the storm Delhi Capitals were about to unleash. Their batters came out all guns blazing, tearing into the powerplay with fearless strokeplay and putting the Titans on the back foot early despite an early wicket.

The momentum didn’t fade even after the second wicket in the powerplay, as the middle order kept the scoreboard ticking with brisk cameos, each batter adding fuel to the fire. However, with good starts, none of the batters played long.

The Titans looked rattled. Rashid Khan, their trusted trump card, had a forgettable outing, leaking runs and spilling catches under pressure. Though Prasidh Krishna struck back with a fiery spell, claiming four crucial wickets, his efforts were overshadowed in the final over when Ashutosh Sharma exploded with consecutive sixes, delivering a brutal finish.

In a flurry of late fireworks, Delhi Capitals stormed past the 200-run mark, leaving the Titans with a mountain to climb. They would definitely feel they had left around 15-20 runs there.

GT, in the chase, also lost their skipper Shubham Gill in the 10th ball. They, however, then went past the powerplay without any further damage. DC's bowling wasn't up to the mark in that phase. Kuldeep Yadav got Sai Sudharsan at 36, but Jos Buttler and Rutherford then picked up the pace in the chase.

The equation was 66 required from the last 6 overs, and the in-form Jos Buttler hit Mitchell Starc for five back-to-back boundaries. The asking rate dropped below 10, and Gujarat was on the driving seat.

With just 12 runs required from the final 8 balls, they lost Rutherford. Rahul Tewatia played the next three balls, and those three were enough for him to seal the deal. He smoked an orbital SIX to Starc in the first ball of the final over and then edged the next for a four, and it was all over for Delhi Capitals.

GT vs DC Scorecard

Delhi Capitals: 203/8 (20 overs)
