GT vs LSG: Marsh's Heroic and O'Rourke's brilliance WON LSG against Table Topper GT by 33 Runs

GT vs LSG, Match No. 64: What a match! Gujarat Titans put in all their efforts, but all it went in vain as Lucknow Super Giants successfully defended 236 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. LSG rolled over the table topper GT by 33 runs.

A century by Marsh and a good supporting role by other batters helped LSG put a mammoth total on the board. Gujarat gave an equally power-packed response with the bat in hand, but LSG found good ways to shut GT in the death overs, and that is where GT lost it.

On a dry black-soil pitch in Ahmedabad, Lucknow Super Giants put on a batting show, scoring a massive 235 for 2 against Gujarat Titans. The star of the night was Mitchell Marsh, who played the best knock of his IPL career, a stunning 117 runs off just 64 balls.

It was his first IPL century and only the second in his T20 career. After a few shaky moments early on, Marsh found his rhythm and even smashed Rashid Khan for multiple boundaries in a single over. He built a strong 91-run stand with Aiden Markram (36 off 24), and then teamed up with Nicholas Pooran (56* off 27) to add 121 runs in quick time.

Pooran kept the momentum going with some big hits, while Rishabh Pant chipped in at the end with a short but explosive 16* off just 6 balls. By the end, LSG had set a huge total, sending a clear message with their power-packed batting.

Gujarat Titans began their chase of 236 with confidence, as their top order looked solid early on. With Akash Singh leaving the field after just one ball, Lucknow Super Giants were a bowler short, and it seemed like GT might cruise to the target. But the game quickly turned.

All three of GT’s top-order batters were dismissed within the first ten overs — the first time this season that none of them lasted until the 15th over. The pressure fell on the middle order, and Shahrukh Khan-Shephard briefly raised hopes with a strong effort.

Just when GT looked back in the game, Matt Henry O'Rourke struck twice in the 17th over to break their momentum. Avesh Khan, who had a rough start, returned with deadly low full tosses that pushed GT further behind. The lower middle order couldn’t step up once again, but full credit goes to LSG’s outstanding death bowling.

Even part-timer Ayush Badoni was trusted with the final over — and he delivered, picking up two wickets. In the end, Gujarat Titans were restricted to 202, falling short by 33 runs in a high-scoring thriller.
