Gujarat Titans (GT) Playing11 for IPL 2022, Complete Squad and Players List: The Gujarat Titans (GT) had a bit of a gloomy start to the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Mega Auction, but before the event ended, the franchise bolstered its entire squad with various valuable picks. The big talking point of the Gujarat based IPL franchise is their bowling department which comprises several stars.
The CVC Capitals owned Gujarat Titans (GT), earlier, drafted all-rounder Hardik Pandya (INR 15 Crores), spinner Rashid Khan (INR 15 Crores) and Shubman Gill (INR 8 Crores) as their core players. To add to the core unit, GT bought the likes of Mohammad Shami, Lokie Ferguson, David Miller, Matthew Wade, Wriddhiman Saha and others.
Though on-paper, Titans looks solid and formidable outfit, experts have rated it average to the standards set by the other franchises.
Despite having some of the brilliant pacers in the squad, the franchise may struggle if the IPL is held in India or in UAE. Moreover, Gujarat lacks quality left-arm batsmen who can provide a balance to the squad.
There will also be a concern of consistent performance from each of their players. Hardik Pandya is the only guy who has performed every time he walked out, but his current fitness will also be a problem.
GT coaches earlier mentioned that Hardik Pandya is purely chosen in the side as a batsman. They aren’t considering him as an all-rounder option as of now, which is a big issue as per the cricket pundits.

Young opener Batsman Shubman Gill, who has been drafted into the squad for INR 8 Crores, will be the first choice opener for Gujarat Titans. Gill was a consistent performer in his previous franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Titans will pair Shubman Gill alongside English opener Jason Roy.
GT got Roy for his base price which is considered a steal deal. The cricketer recently struck a magnificent century in the Pakistan Super League and can replicate his brilliant performance in the IPL as well.
Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade is purchased by the Gujarat Titans for INR 2.4 Crores. His recent performance in the T20 World Cup 2021 fetched him a spot in the IPL. Wade is a fantastic striker of the white ball. He can easily score runs at a brisk pace, which makes him one of the most destructive wicketkeeper-batsman.
Abhinav Sadarangani will follow Matthew Wade at number 4. The Karnataka batsman has impressed everyone with his flamboyant performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Looking at his innings in the SMAT, Abhinav is a wonderful player who can play in the middle order and soak in pressure.
His sensational performance in the SMAT got a reward as he caused a bidding war between Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans. From a base price of INR 20 Lakhs, Sadarangani rose to INR 2.6 Crores.
The captain of Gujarat Titans, Hardik Pandya, will place himself in the number 5. Pandya is known for his consistent performance and the franchise would love to see him back into his sublime touch. Hardik’s recent performance has been disappointing owing to which he lost his place in the Indian team as well as in Mumbai Indians.
Every franchise needs a versatile all-rounder who can bat anywhere as per the requirement of the team. Gujarat have Vijay Shankar as their adaptable all-rounder. Shankar can be used as a genuine number four batsman, and can also be pushed at the lower middle order to provide a good balance to the team. Moreover, he can deliver a couple of good overs with his fantastic roll of wrist.
GT might bring in Rahul Tewatia at number 7. Tewatia was purchased by Gujarat Titans at an eye-raising price of INR 9 Crores. The spin bowling all-rounder put a couple of franchises in a contest to bag his services.
With the price tag associated with him, Tewatia would be a guy who will have a larger role to fulfil in the team. His leg-spin can be utilised very well and Rahul Tewatia is also a handy batsman in the death overs. His heroics against Sheldon Cottrell has been a testament to his batting brilliance.
Following Tewatia, R Sai Kishore will be there for GT. Kishore is a spin bowling all-rounder who plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic tournaments. He has scalped a total of 43 wickets in 38 T20 games while with the bat his contributions remained poor.
For the genuine bowlers, Titans will pick Rashid Khan, Mohammad Shami and Lokie Ferguson. All the three bowlers are world-class. They have represented their respective teams at the highest level and have been at the top of their game.
Rashid Khan, Mohammad Shami and Lokie Ferguson will be the three players who will form the bowling core of Gujarat Titans and all three will feature consistently for the Ahmedabad based IPL team.
