It has been a week since the completion of IPL 2022’s Mega Auction and all the 10 teams have built their squads. However, the squad of new franchise Gujarat Titans has been particularly very special. They undoubtedly have one of the strongest squads in the entire tournament and are more than capable of winning the trophy in their debut IPL season.
Despite having built such a strong team, the franchise was yet to reveal its official logo, until now. They have finally revealed the logo of their team today and the way in which they did so was indeed historic in the Indian cricket scenario. But to understand what they did, we will have to first have a good understanding of Web 3.0.
Technology is improving every day and with it, the ways in which we interact with each other is also changing rapidly. Telephones and letter writing had become already obsolete with the invention of mobile phones and the internet. Web 2.0 Social media sites like Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, etc are the platform that everyone uses nowadays to connect with their friends and other people around the world.
However, with Web 3.0 coming into existence slowly, these social media sites are also trying to move to Web 3.0 slowly. And the ‘Metaverse’ is Facebook’s way of doing that transition.
The Metaverse is an entirely different world of Virtual reality. Facebook envisions that in the future, Virtual reality will be the sole way in which people communicate with each other. In their Metaverse, users will be able to make their own animated virtual reality bodies, they can interact with each other, attend parties and events together, etc.
Although it is yet to be fully implemented and is under process, Gujarat Titans took the bold step of launching their new logo on the Metaverse.
In an animated video, we saw the Metaverse bodies of Ashish Nehra, Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill in the video. The three first talked a bit about the platform and the importance of their new logo and then finally unveiled the much-awaited logo.
Hardik Pandya had already been named the captain of Gujarat Titans after being drafted into the team. Gujarat had drafted him, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill. As mentioned earlier, they had a great Mega Auction. Let us have a look at their IPL 2022 squad.
