Harshit Rana or Arshdeep Singh? Mohammed Shami's bowling partner finalised for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The Indian cricket team has landed in Dubai and has begun their preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Rohit Sharma-led side arrived in the Gulf country on Saturday and then were on the ground on Sunday, making sure that they accumulated to conditions.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is just two days away and the Rohit Sharma-led side would be keen to tick all the boxes before playing their first game of the tournament. Their opening match will be played against Bangladesh on 20th February at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

Arshdeep Singh is likely to get the nod ahead of Harshit Rana as a partner of Mohammed Shami in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025

One of the major developments that came from the Indian camp was team management's preference for the second pacer in the XI. As per the reports in PTI, it is learned that Arshdeep Singh is likely to get the nod ahead of Harshit Rana as a partner of Mohammed Shami in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The reports claimed that Arshdeep Singh's variations are being seen as more supreme than those of Harshit Rana. The team management believes that his ability to bring the ball into the right-hander in the powerplay could be key for the team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Arshdeep Singh didn't get to play much in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against England. The left-arm pacer warmed the bench for the first two games and then returned to the team for the last game, picking two wickets and helping the side win.

Harshit Rana, on the other hand, played all three games in the series and looked decent. However, with Mohammed Shami set to be the first choice, India is keen to bring variety into the playing XI, and hence, Arshdeep Singh will be preferred ahead of Rana.

Arshdeep Singh has played 9 games so far in ODIs and has an economy of just over 5. He would be keen to make an impact for his team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The left-arm pacer was notably the leading wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup 2024, with 17 wickets under his belt.
