Delhi Capitals (DC) achieved a massive unwanted record to their name in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They became the first team in the history of the tournament to not qualify for the playoffs after winning their first four league games in the season.
Delhi Capitals failed to qualify for the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as they lost to Mumbai Indians in their most important game of the tournament. The match took place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday (21st May).
Mumbai Indians booked their berth in the playoffs of the India Premier League (IPL) 2025 as they beat Delhi Capitals by 59 runs. Asked to bat, the hosts didn't have a good start to their innings as senior batter Rohit Sharma got out for just five runs.
Ryan Rickelton (25) and Will Jacks (21) batted well but failed to carry on the starts that they had. With the team under pressure, Suryakumar Yadav (73*) and Tilak Varma (27) stitched a hard-fought 55-run stand for the fourth wicket, but Delhi Capitals made a strong comeback after that, leaving Mumbai Indians at 123 for five.
However, Suryakumar, along with Naman Dhir (24*) in the end, added 57 runs for the sixth wicket that ensured that Mumbai Indians finished on high as they posted a total of 180 for five.
