ICC announces prize money for ICC Champions Trophy 2025, winners to get this huge amount of money

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday (14th February) announced the prize money for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The eight-nation tournament, which will be played for the first time after 2017, is all set to begin on 19th February, with the final to be played on 9th March. 

The winners of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 are all set to get a whopping amount of  $2.24 million (USD), which is around 20.8 crore INR. Not only this, runners-ups will also be getting a decent amount of money. The ICC will be giving them $1.12 million USD, which is around 10.4 crore INR 

Along with winners and runners-ups, semi-finalists of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be getting $560,000 (INR 5.2 crore) each. This time around, the prize money has seen a massive rise from the last edition of the tournament. It has increased by  53 per cent from the 2017 edition, reaching $6.9 million 

Teams winning the games in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be getting $34,000, while fifth or sixth-place teams will receive $350,000 each.  The seventh and eighth-placed sides in the tournament will be taking $140,000 home. Barring this, all the teams will get a participating fee of $125,000. 

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be played in a Hybrid model across four venues. In Pakistan, the games will be played in Karachi, Lahore and Multan while in UAE, Dubai will be hosting the games. India will be playing all their matches in Dubai. 

Pakistan is the runner-up in the ICC Champions Trophy. They beat India in the final of the 2017 edition. This is the first time since 1996 that Pakistan will be hosting an ICC event. They would be keen to do something special and win another title.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah, while talking about the prize money for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, said that the prize money depicts their commitment to investing in the sport. He also talked about the importance of tournaments and speaking in an official release, he said: 

"The ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 represents a pivotal moment for cricket, reviving a tournament that highlights the pinnacle of ODI talent, where every match is critical. The substantial prize pot underscores the ICC's ongoing commitment to investing in the sport and maintaining the global prestige of our events." 

"Beyond the financial incentive, this tournament ignites fierce competition, captivates fans worldwide, and plays a vital role in fostering the growth and long-term sustainability of cricket for future generations."
