India captain Rohit Sharma has been in the news for the last few days. This is because the opening batter suffered a hamstring injury during the game against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on 23rd March.

Rohit Sharma struggled with his fitness while fielding and was even off the field for a while with Shubman Gill taking over the charge. However, he later returned to the field but didn't seem fit. The India captain also came out to bat and scored quickfire 20 runs but his footwork due to injury wasn't good.

With Rohit Sharma suffering an injury, there were a lot of doubts about his participation in the upcoming game against New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The skipper also didn't train with the Team during their first net session ahead of the match and it saw many reporting that he might miss the game.

However, on Friday (28th February), Rohit Sharma made a return to nets and batted an hour long without any discomfort. The India skipper also underwent fielding sessions, which all but confirmed that he is fit for the next game of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against New Zealand.

It's an injury he's had before, so he knows how to manage it really well - India assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate on Rohit Sharma

India assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate also provided a fitness update about Rohit Sharma, saying that the skipper is all right and has managed his injury well. Speaking to reporters ahead of the New Zealand clash, he said:

"He's all right. It's an injury he's had before, so he knows how to manage it really well,” he said.

After the game against Pakistan, India had a decent break of around 10 days. The match against New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be important for Men in Blue to gain their rhythm back ahead of the semi-final.

The Rohit Sharma-led side will be taking on either Australia, one of South Africa, or Afghanistan in the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. It remains to be seen what combination will India opt for in their final league game against New Zealand.
