(25 FEB) ICC Champions Trophy 2025: The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is halfway through after New Zealand vs Bangladesh. New Zealand and India are the first two teams to secure the semifinal spots of the tournament from Group A and today, Australia and South Africa will fight for the top spot in the Group B points table.
India and New Zealand from Group A have been unbeaten till now. Both teams have defeated Pakistan and Bangladesh once and two wins for a team means qualification to the next round.
In the most recent match between New Zealand and Bangladesh, batting first, Bangladesh posted a below-average total of 236 runs at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Skipper Shanto got a well-structured 77 and received just enough support from the lower order.
Bangladesh were in the game within the first 21 balls where they dismantled two wickets under 15 runs. They were trying hard to sneak through but Rachin Ravindra had some other plans. The injury replacement of Daryl Mitchell–Rachin Ravindra stunned Bangladesh with a phenomenal century. Tom Latham also batted well for his 55 and New Zealand managed a 5-wicket victory with 4 overs left.
This win not only secured New Zealand a berth in the semifinal round but also terminated any chances and hopes of Pakistan and Bangladesh for the qualification.
