ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Schedule to be announced on sidelines of ICC WTC Final: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, Jay Shah has informed that the schedule for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be announced on the sidelines of the upcoming ICC World Test Championship 2023 Final. The World Cup 2023 will be held in the month of October-November this year.
Jay Shah informed the reporters after the Special General Meeting (SGM) on Saturday that the complete schedule and venues of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be revealed as India takes on Australia in the ICC WTC Final at Oval in London from June 7-11.
“The venues for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be decided at a press conference during the ICC World Test Championship Final,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement after a meeting on the eve of the Indian Premier League final in Ahmedabad.
The top BCCI official confirmed that the complete schedule will be revealed along with the venues as the board is looking to host ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 games in all metro cities across the country.
As per the reports, 12 prominent venues across India have been shortlisted to host the matches of the showpiece ICC event. Stadiums including Narendra Modi Stadium, Wankhede Stadium, Eden Gardens and M Chinnaswamy Stadium are likely to host the important games of the tournament which comprise 10 teams.
“As far as the venues for the ICC Cricket World Cup are concerned, each office-bearer will be responsible for each venue. We are looking at all metros as the venue for the tournament, said Jay Shah.
Decision on Asia Cup 2023
The BCCI is also expected to decide the fate of Asia Cup 2023 on the sidelines of the Tata IPL 2023 Final between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 28th May 2023.
The chiefs of the cricket boards of Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have been invited by the BCCI to witness the Tata IPL 2023 Final.
“The future of the Asia Cup 2023 will be decided once we have a meeting with the ACC members (Test-playing nations) and the Associate nations,” said Shah.
The settlement of the India-Pakistan dispute will also be addressed in the meeting of the office bearers of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Notably, Pakistan has threatened to boycott ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 if India pulls back from participating in the Asia Cup 2023 which will be hosted by Pakistan in September.
