ICC declares Virat Kohli’s Six off Haris Rauf as “Shot of the Century”: Every day seems like another achievement for Virat Kohli, who has been on the spree of adding feathers to his already decorated hat. In the recent turn of events, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced Virat Kohli’s six off Haris Rauf during the T20 World Cup 2022 as the “Shot of the Century.”
The accolade for the prestigious “Shot of the Century” was announced on Virat Kohli’s 35th birthday on November 5 by the apex cricket board. The ICC shared a video across its social media platforms captioning, “Celebrate Virat Kohli’s birthday with a look back at his top 10 moments in ICC tournaments.”
The video featured some of the most iconic moments from the cricket field over the years including the “spirit of cricket.”
During the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, Virat Kohli was in the middle of the stage when India was in a spot of bother against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). With India requiring 28 runs off the last eight deliveries in the fixture, Kohli’s under-pressure game brilliance came into play.
He smoked Haris Rauf, one of Pakistan’s premier bowlers, for two consecutive sixes in the 19th over and brought down the equation to 16 runs off six deliveries.
One of the six hit by Virat Kohli off Haris Rauf immediately became a sensation. Rauf delivered a slower ball, which was slammed away by Kohli down the ground, backing away from the line.
Below is a glimpse of that six, which has now been referred to as the “Shot of the Century” by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
