“While two games of England’s home T20 International series against Pakistan got been washed out due to rain, that has not prevented players of both the teams from making progress on the latest updated ICC Men’s T20i player rankings ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup which is set to commence from 1st June onwards in the United States and the West Indies,” the International Cricket Council said in their press release.
“England’s limited overs skipper Jos Buttler has risen to the seventh rank by one spot in the updated Men’s T20I batting rankings thanks to his wonderful inning of 84 runs in the second T20 against Pakistan in the city of Birmingham and his compatriot Jonny Bairstow has made a leap of eight places to 36th on the batting rankings as well thanks to his blistering knock of 21 runs in the same match against the Babar Azam led team.”
The players of West Indies have also made progress in the rankings after whitewashing South Africa 3-0 in the recently concluded T20i series.
“Following the recent series win of West Indies against South Africa, the trio of Johnson Charles (up by 17 places to the 20th rank), Brandon King (up by five spots to the eighth rank) and Kyle Mayers (up by 12 places to the 31st position) have made huge jumps in the Men’s T20 batting rankings thanks to their impressive performances with the bat against South Africa,” the International Cricket Council (ICC) added.
“Windies slow left arm orthodox bowler Gudakesh Motie was adjudged as the Man of the Series for picking up eight – scalps with the ball during the recently concluded series against the Proteas and the 29 year old has improvised massively on the T20i bowling rankings as he has risen straightway to the 27th rank from outside the top 100.”
