ICC Men’s T20I Players Ranking: The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently released the updated Men’s T20i Player rankings amid the ongoing 2024 ICC T20 World Cup in the West Indies and United States of America (USA).
Table of Contents
Pakistan’s star batsman and skipper Babar Azam has improved in the batting rankings as he has replaced fellow teammate Mohammad Rizwan at the third position in the ICC T20 International batting rankings. Azam’s rise in the rankings came amidst the constant criticism he has faced for batting at a very low strike rate. Rizwan on the other hand has dropped down to the fourth place in the rankings.
Indian Cricket Team’s star batter Suryakumar Yadav continues to stay at the top of the batting rankings while England’s Skipper Jos Butter has moved up by two spots and sits in the fifth position currently. Australia’s hard hitting opener Travis Head has entered the top 10 of the batting rankings as he moved up by six spots.
Afghanistan’s veteran spin bowling all rounder Mohammad Nabi has replaced Shakib Al Hasan at the top of the T20 International All Rounder rankings following his heroics with the ball during his team’s 84 run win over New Zealand in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The 39 year old moved up by two spots to become the world’s number one All Rounder.
Aussie fast bowling all rounder Marcus Stoinis on the other hand rose by three places in the rankings and is currently sitting at the second position of the T20 International All Rounder rankings. Former number one all rounder Shakib Al Hasan has dropped to the fifth position after delivering poor performances constantly with both bat and ball.
Besides Nabi, other Afghan players have also improved significantly in the T20 International rankings in both batting as well as bowling.
Wicketkeeper batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the leading run getter in the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup with 154 runs in just two games at an outstanding average of 78.00 has moved up by eight places to the 12th spot and has been rewarded significantly for his outstanding batting display.
Talking about Afghanistan’s bowlers, Rashid Khan’s four wicket haul against New Zealand has helped him to claim the third position in the bowling rankings while seamer Fazalhaq Farooqi’s five and four wicket hauls in two encounters has steered him to the joint fourth rank alongside South Africa’s Anrich Nortje with 662 rating points.
English leg spinner Adil Rashid retained his number one spot in the T20 International bowling rankings while Sri Lankan skipper Wanindu Hasaranga held on to his second place.
