The ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings were updated by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on April 10, 2024, after the completion of the BAN vs SL 2-game test series. The Sri Lankan players, who facilitated a clean sweep against Bangladesh, have made big gains in the Test Player Rankings in all three departments.

Notably, Sri Lanka’s tour of Bangladesh ended on April 03, with the visitors sealing a two-game clean-sweep in the red-ball format. The island nation wrapped up the first test by 328 runs, and the second fixture went in their kitty by a margin of 192 runs.
Kamindu Mendis and Angelo Mathews have made decent advancements in the Test Player Rankings post their team’s win against Bangladesh in Chattogram.
Mendis, moved 18 places up to 46th place, following his unbeaten 92-run contribution to his team’s success. The all-rounder has managed to get 533 rating points, while he also sees a sizable jump in the bowling rankings.
Angelo Mathews, meanwhile, has also gained significantly with his scores of 23 and 56 in the second test against Bangladesh. The veteran Sri Lankan cricketer has moved to the 25th place in the batting rankings.
Kusal Mendis, who played a 93-run knock in the first innings of the second test, has also moved up a bit to reach a total of 520 rating points in the batting charts.
Asitha Fernando moved up to the 27th position, which is at 576 rating points owing to his four wickets in the first innings. The bowler couldn’t scalp wickets in the third innings.
Talking about Bangladesh’s player’s advancements in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings, opener Zakir Hasan has moved up by three spots, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz, following his gritty knock of unbeaten 81 runs in the second innings, saw him gain 11 places to sit at the 88th spot.
Meanwhile, Mominul Haque has gained four places after his performances in the BAN vs SL Test series. He is currently seated in the 46th position.
Talking about the top players in ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings, New Zealand batter Kane Williamson leads the batting charts with 859 rating points. He is followed by Joe Root (824), Babar Azam (768) and Daryl Mitchell (768).
Three Indian batters have managed to remain in the top 10 ICC Men’s Test player rankings for batters. Rohit Sharma is placed sixth followed by Yashasvi Jaiswal at seven and Virat Kohli at number nine.
The Bowling charts are led by legendary Indian spinner R Ashwin with 870 rating points followed by Australia’s Josh Hazlewood (847). Jasprit Bumrah has equalled Hazlewood at the second spot.
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is at the helm of the all-rounder’s ranking charts with 444 rating points. He is followed by his spin-bowling partner R Ashwin, who has 322 ratings.
