In the latest updated ICC ODI Player Rankings, there are as many as 6 Indian players in the top 10s of each category (Batting, Bowling, and All-rounders) which is the highest number of players from all the other countries. Three Indian players are in the top 10 of the Batting ranking, two in the bowling, and one in the top 10 all-rounders rankings. Surprisingly, India is followed by Afghanistan. Five Afghan athletes have successfully kept their spots in the top 10s of each of the three categories.
Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, jumped five spots to sixth position in the ODI ICC ODI batters’ rankings as a result of his overpowering performance at home during the current World Cup. Rohit has been one of the most productive batsmen in the tournament after scoring 131 runs against Afghanistan and following that up with an impressive 86 off 63 balls against arch-rivals Pakistan.
Shubman Gill again lost 12 rating points and now he is 18 ratings far from the top-ranked Pakistan’s class batsman and skipper Babar Azam. However, Shubman still holds the second spot in the latest updated ICC ODI Player Rankings. Two back-to-back centuries from Quinton de Kock has helped him to improve his ranking from 7th position and now he is the new number three in the Men’s batting rankings.
Imam-ul Haq slipped from 6th place to 10th place and Virat Kohli still holds that joint 8th spot with Dawid Malan.
Moving to the bowler’s ranking, Australia’s Josh Hazlewood is the Number 1 bowler in ICC ODI Player Rankings with 660 rating points. He is 1 rating ahead of Trent Boult who is followed by India’s Mohammad Siraj with 654 rating points. Kuldeep Yadav regained his spot in the top 10 of the ICC Men’s Bowling rankings and is ranked 8th with 641 rating points.
Rashid Khan, an Afghan wizard, has a firm grip on fourth position in the bowling rankings while his compatriot Mujeeb Ur Rahman has dropped to fifth place from third. Spinner Keshav Maharaj of South Africa advanced seven positions overall to tie for the fifth position with Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
Shakib-al-Hasan has successfully maintained his number 1 spot in the ICC ODI Player Rankings of All-rounders. Notably, Hardik Pandya (9) is the only Indian allrounder in the list of top 15 ODI allrounders and he is the only fast bowling allrounder in the Top 10. Ravindra Jadeja got a few interesting bowling numbers in the last few outings that have helped him to get into the top 20s.
