ICC ODI Rankings: The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is around the corner and teams are getting in the groove ahead of the tournament. The focus on the ODIs is back as all the teams will be playing 50-over format in bulk to prepare themselves for the event. In the process, there’ll be a massive change in the rankings as well with everyone giving their best.
ICC ODI Rankings: Pakistan suffers disappointing 47-run loss against New Zealand in 5th ODI
ICC ODI Rankings: After winning the four games on the trot, Pakistan suffered a disappointing 47 runs in the fifth ODI against New Zealand. They failed to get going with the bat this time around, which was the reason behind them not completing a 5-0 whitewash.
Batting first, after winning the toss, New Zealand opener Will Young played a great hand up the order and scored 87 runs. He was supported well by skipper Tom Latham (59) and Mark Chapman (43) whereas Cole McConchie (26) and Rachin Ravindra (28) played a vital role in the end as they posted a total of 299 runs on the board.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with the figures of 3/46 whereas Usama Mir and Shadab Khan picked two wickets each. Haris Rauf and Mohammad Wasim jr chipped in too with one wicket each.

Chasing the wickets, Pakistan lost early wickets and were tottering at 66/4. Agha Salman (57) and Iftikhar Ahmed (94*) kept their side in the hunt with their vital half-centuries. But New Zealand kept chipping in regular wickets and bundled out Pakistan for just 252 runs.
Henry Shipley and Rachin Ravindra picked three wickets each whereas Adam Milne, Matt Henry and Ish Sodhi picked one wicket to help their side avoid the whitewash and win the final game of the series by 47 runs.
ICC ODI Rankings: Pakistan lasts only 48 hours as a No.1 ranked ODI side; slips down back to No.3
ICC ODI Rankings: After the win in the fourth ODI, Pakistan for the first time in history became the No.1 ODI ranked side. But they could last only 48 hours at the top of the rankings. The loss in the fifth game against New Zealand pushed them down.
Pakistan was displaced from the No.1 rankings and is now at No.3. Their rating fell to 112 and Australia climbed up to the No.1 spot and India also was back at No.2 with 113 ratings.
