India won the toss and the skipper chose another chasing. A couple of forced changes in the team due to Hardik Pandya’s unavailability but the team looked at a good balance. Bumrah was precise as always and Siraj took the first wickets from the other end in the form of Conway. Shami, who replaced Shardul Thakur, got the ball for 9th over and straight-away bowled Will Young in the very first ball.
Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell constructed fine innings where they both added 159 runs together. It was Shami again, who broke the partnership and sent Rachin back at 75 runs. Shami then just blew New Zealand by storm and took a fifer in no time. When New Zealand were looking for a 300+ total, he made India come back at the match and restrict them. Daryl Mitchell weaved an excellent 130 off 127 balls and put his team to a competitive total of 273.
Rohit is in golden touch. He provided a flying start to the team and straight forward takes the pressure away from the team and put it to the opposition. With the help of four 4s and four 6s, he gave a blasting start and Virat kept the pace alive. Virat crafted his innings in such a way that he took the team comfortably home but he got out just 5 runs from his century. Jadeja won the match for India with his 39*(44) and India won the first-ever ICC match against New Zealand since 2003.
