ICC picks only one Indian batter to shine in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy; it’s not Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma

ICC picks only one Indian batter to shine in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy; it’s not Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma

The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy is knocking at the doorstep, as teams will be in action from the 19th of February with Pakistan the host team starring in the kick-off game against New Zealand, who recently won the tri-series in the nation.

With every team having reached Pakistan and the Indian team gearing their preparations in Dubai, the International Cricket Council have picked 5 batters from among the 8 participating teams as predicted highest run-getters in the competition.

Among them, there is only one player from India and it is not Virat Kohli or the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, it is middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer who will be making his Champions Trophy debut in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy edition.

Iyer’s form in the longer limited-overs formats gave him this upper hand, as even ICC relies on him for great form. Shreyas was seen scoring the second-most runs in the England series, with two fifties as well. Shreyas was also the third-highest run-getter for India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Other Four Batters Picked by ICC to Shine in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy

Shreyas Iyer - The only Indian batter in the list

ICC has picked four other batters alongside Shreyas Iyer for players who can shine in the ICC Champions Trophy. They included the likes of Fakhar Zaman, the Pakistan opener, as one of the batters who can also excel in the tournament under home conditions.

The next batter on our list includes Kiwi middle-order batter, Daryl Mitchell, who was the highest run-getter for the Blackcaps in the World Cup back in 2023.

Two other batters, South African explosive wicket-keeper batsman Heinrich Klaasen, have made it to the ICC’s list alongside Ben Duckett from England. Duckett’s form has been considerably good, as his injury looked to make a concern for England, and he remains the most in-form batter on the list to score runs across all formats ever since his debut.
