International Cricket Council (ICC) recently revealed the name of their Player of the Month. The winner is the Bangladesh cricket team captain, Shakib Al Hasan. Shakib has given impressive performances in March 2023 and faced tough competition for the spot. The other contenders for the award were Kane Williamson (New Zealand) and Asif Khan (United Arab Emirates).
While thanking everyone for the award, Shakib said, “This is a recognition I greatly value because there are so many special performances in a month from a number of amazing cricketers.”
“If I was to pick my highlight from the past month, it has to be the T20 series sweep against England and, with the team continuing to perform beautifully as a unit in all departments, it is easier for me now to concentrate on my role and contribute.”
Bangladesh had a good series run in March, and as captain, Shakib took good charge of his home team. The month began with the England tour of Bangladesh, where England sealed the ODI series 2-0.
Shakib had a stellar performance in the only ODI match they won and even took home the Player of the Match award. The wrath of the tigers came when they had a clean sweep of victory and defeated England for the T20 series 3-0.

The team managed to win the ODI series by 2-0, with a whopping score of 93* and a win in the single One-off Test. Shakib’s squad also managed to clean-sweep Ireland in the T20I series 3-0. The Bowling All-Rounder even took a Five-Wicket-Haul in the powerplay of the 2nd T20I while scoring 38 in 24 deliveries.
In the 12 Matches played by Bangladesh in March, Shakib Al Hasan picked up 15 wickets and scored 353 runs for the team while dominating the English teams.
Shakib has previously won this prestigious award once and was honoured to win it for the second time. He thanked the panel and those who voted for him and appreciated his fellow contenders for the award.
