ICC Player of the Month nominee announced for December 2021: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday announced the three nominees for the ICC Player of the Month award for December 2021. The list includes young Indian batsman Mayank Agarwal for his brilliant exploits in the month of December.
Besides Mayank Agarwal, ICC also nominated New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel and Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc for the monthly award.
Agarwal featured in two test matches in the month of December 2021 and scored 276 runs. The cricketer scored two half-centuries and also smacked a century. Agarwal was also adjudged as the ‘Player of the Match’ in the second test match against New Zealand held in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
Moreover, in the ongoing test series against South Africa, Mayank Agarwal has scored 113 runs in two matches at a good average of 28.25.
Ajaz Patel:
New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel has been a special mention in the ICC Player of the Month award. Patel breached a rare feat of picking up all ten wickets in a Test inning.
He achieved that against India in the Mumbai test. He picked a 10-wickets haul in the first innings while four wickets in the second innings to inscribe his name in the history books.
Patel scalped a massive 17 wickets in the two test matches series against India, last year.

Mitchell Starc:
Australian pacer Mitchell Starc has been thoroughly unbelievable in the ongoing Ashes 2021-22. The left-arm speedster has single-handedly demolished England’s batting unit multiple times.
Starc has uprooted as many as 14 test wickets in the ongoing Ashes against England and played a vital role in retaining the all-important Ashes 2021-22 by defeating the visitors in the opening three encounters.
Despite missing two key pacers in Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, Australia convincingly conquered England in the series by 3-0.
