ICC Ranking: Anderson Reclaims No. 1 position, Cummins displaced after 1466 days: International Cricket Council has updated the ICC Test Bowler Ranking table where James Anderson of England has reclaimed the number 1 spot, ending 1466 days no. 1 steak of Australian Speedster Pat Cummins.
The 40-year-old took 7 wickets in the first test in the ongoing test series of England vs New Zealand. England beat New Zealand in the first test by a gigantic margin of 267 runs. England have unleashed their actually potential with a different standard of Test cricket and have won 10 tests out of 11 under Brandon McCullum.
For the sixth time in his career, Anderson has taken the top rank in the Men’s Test Player Rankings. He first rose to the position in May 2016 and last held it in November 2018 before Kagiso Rabada overtook him.
In addition, Anderson’s elevation to the top spot at the sprightly age of 40 years and 207 days makes him the oldest active bowler in the top spot since Australian great Clarrie Grimmett did so in 1936.

But, his lead at the top is razor-thin, with Ashwin in second place on 864 rating points, only two points behind the English pacer. Ashwin is expected to once again perform exceptionally and very likely he’ll be snatching the rank from the British veteran.
While Cummins, who has been ranked first since February 2019, falls to third with 858 rating points, he still has a chance to reclaim the top spot if Australia’s current Test series against India features some standout performances.
