ICC revealed the Umpires for the ICC World Test Championship, Richard Kettleborough.

International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday revealed the umpires and match referee to officiate the inaugural ICC World Test Championship 2021, which will begin on 18th June.

ICC elite panel’s umpires, Richard Illingworth and Michael Gough will be the two standing umpires for the final while English batsman turned umpire Chris Broad will be the match referee.

Richard Kettleborough, also a member of ICC’s elite panel, will be the TV Umpire (Third Umpire) operating in the final of WTC.

Coincidentally, Richard Kettleborough has officiated every ICC knockout game since 2014 that India has lost. Moreover, Kettleborough was one of the two standing umpires in the India vs New Zealand ICC World Cup 2019 Semi-Final which India lost.

The marquee summit clash between Virat Kohli-led India and Kane Williamson-led New Zealand will begin on 18th June at Rose Bowl, Southampton.

“We are pleased to announce an experienced team of match officials for the final of the World Test Championship,” said Adrian Griffith, ICC Senior Manager.

It has not been an easy time with the pandemic, but we are fortunate to have a group of officials at the top of their field who have been consistent over the years in this momentous fixture. We wish them all the very best,” he added.

Both the teams are in England, the Kiwis are currently engaged in two games Test series against England, the first one of those ended in a draw while India is having their practice sessions in Southampton.
