The ICC T20 World Cup is just a week away. The T20 game has been evolving. There are numerous aspects of the game that are being investigated as it develops over time. Bowling is one such aspect. T20 cricket fast bowling is now divided into two categories. Powerplay fast-bowling and death-bowling. There are only a few players who have mastered both skills well. Spinners are also flourishing. Here is an in-depth look at the expected top 5 fast bowlers:
1) Pat Cummins will be at the ICC T20 World Cup:
Pat Cummins is one of the top bowlers on the planet. He might not be having the best of days currently but he surely is very good on his day. He is a complete package. He has those sharp bouncers; he has those fast yorkers. He can bowl at the death and at the beginning too. He has got a swing at his aid which gives him a completely different dimension. Add to it his athleticism in the field and the batting that he offers. Cummins is a true inspiration.
2) Wanindu Hasaranga will be at the ICC T20 World Cup:
Wanindu Hasaranga is one name that can be a very big threat. He made the batters dance to his tunes at the IPL. RCB was heavily criticized for picking Hasaranga for 11 Crore Indian Rupees, but Hasaranga made sure to shell-shock the critics. He let his performance do the talk. His arm speed is fast, just like Rashid Khan and hence he is very tough to pick. The batters can’t read his sharp googly and hence find it difficult. He can also bat at number 7.
3) Shaheen Shah Afridi will be at the ICC T20 World Cup:
Left-arm pacers are always a treat to watch. Shaheen is one deadly bowler. He easily clocks above 145 clicks and swings the ball wickedly. The immense potential that Shaheen has can take him a very long way. He can out-fox the batters. His yorkers are very sharp too. He has a quick bouncer. He doesn’t have variations like the knuckle-ball and slower one but his powerplay game is “top-notch”.
4) Rashid Khan:
Rashid Khan is the leader of the Afghani bowling unit. He is the leader of the men in blue. He is an inspirational figure for his team. At 24, Rashid already has the experience of a lifetime. He has been playing in global T20 leagues since he was 19! And even then, the batters are not able to play him effectively. He is very difficult to read. He doesn’t make use of flight. Khan believes in bowling a quick and sharp googly or a quick flipper which can leave the batter perplexed. Afghanistan will rely on him at the ICC T20 World Cup.
5) Kagiso Rabada:
KG Rabada has been off-color and off-late. But the best attribute about champions is that they know how to make a comeback. KG will make a comeback too. He is too hot to handle on his day. He easily bowls at 145 or 150 kmph. His pace is electric. Add to it some swing in the powerplay and yorkers at the death. He also makes good use of the “wide-yorker”. This “wide-yorker” is the one that he bowls outside off-stump. The bowling of South Africa will rely on this maestro at the ICC T20 World Cup.
