ICC T20 World Cup: Top 5 All-Rounders to Watch Out For.

The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 is around the corner. The teams are looking to settle their squads. An important position in a team is the position of the all-rounder. The all-rounder is someone who gives the much-needed balance to the team. He becomes the sixth bowling option and can also become the finisher or floater if required. Over the years, the world of T20 cricket has seen many amazing all-rounders. It began with Andrew Flintoff, Andrew Symonds, and Dwayne Bravo and has come down to Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, and Imad Wasim in recent times. So, which are the top 5 all-rounders to watch out for at the ICC T20 World Cup? Here is a look:

1) Dasun Shanaka will lead Sri Lanka at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022:

Dasun Shanaka is the most unexpected name on the list. But his international performances in recent times show the immense talent that he has. Ever since Dasun was chosen as the captain of the Sri Lanka white-ball team he has ensured growth in the status of cricket in Sri Lanka. Dasun is a batting all-rounder. He can bowl a short spell in the powerplay when the ball is swinging. He clocks between 135 to 140 clicks consistently. Here is a look at his T20 stats:

Stat Value
Matches 149
Runs 3151
Batting Average 29.44
Batting Strike Rate 140.66
Wickets 45

Dasun’s performance against Australia in the recently concluded T20I series was splendid. His numbers against India in India in 2022 were also good. He brings positive energy to the team and is a complete team man. He scored 54 of 25 balls to seal the 3rd T20I in favor of Sri Lanka.

2) Andre Russell will play for the West Indies at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022:

Dre Russ is expected to make an entry into the West Indies national team for the ICC T20 World Cup. It has to be regarded that the Caribbean players ensure their presence at all the ICC events. They might have differences with their management with regards to pay scale but their nationalism is unquestioned. All the big-ticket players such as Bravo, Pollard, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and many others join hands and do their national duties. Here is a look at his stats:

Stat Value
Matches 412
Runs 6909
Batting Average 26.15
Batting Strike Rate 169.66
Wickets 371

Andre needs no introduction on the field. If he is on the field, he makes his terms. Andre is someone who rules the game when he comes to bat. He has the knack for taking wickets with the ball in hand. He strikes at more than 165! And still manages to average just around 30 in all of the T20s. He has played a cumulative of 412 games in the T20 circuit. He brings along with him a truck-load of experience.

3) Mitchell Marsh:

Mitchell Marsh has improved his game by four-folds. Mitchell Marsh of 2017 and Mitchell Marsh of 2020s is a completely different players. Marsh has now become the replacement for Shane Watson that the Australian team was always looking for. Marsh bats number 3 for the Australian national team in the T20Is and bowl a couple of overs. His pace revolves around 130 and 135.

Marsh has already played a pivotal role in making Australia the World Champion at the ICC T20 World Cup in UAE in 2021. He plays the pacers very well. His cover drives have become a treat to watch. At times his weakness against the leg spinner is visible but that is only when he goes on the back foot. Here is a look at his T20 stats:

Stat Value
Matches 147
Runs 3530
Batting Average 33.15
Batting Strike Rate 129.66
Wickets 70

4) Hardik Pandya:

Hardik Pandya has made a dream comeback to the cricketing circuit. Now it will be worth watching how this champion performs on the global stage. Pandya has won games out of nowhere for the Gujarat Titans and even for the Mumbai Indians. But his true potential has never been unlocked at the international level. One fact that we can’t disagree with is that he is a big-match player.

When players find it difficult to middle the ball, Pandya strikes long sixes on such pitches. Hardik has a lot to offer to the national team. Regards to the BCCI for spending a lot of money on his rehabilitation as this sensation can perform very well. Here is a look at his T20 stats:

Stat Value
Matches 192
Runs 3227
Batting Average 29.15
Batting Strike Rate 140.66
Wickets 118

Honorable Mentions:

  1. Glenn Maxwell
  1.  Moeen Ali
  1. Ben Stokes

5) Liam Livingstone will play for England at ICC T20 World Cup 2022:

Liam Livingstone is another player who has taken the international scene by storm. Liam will represent England at the ICC T20 World Cup. Liam bowls leg-spin, bowls off-spin, and even bats as a floater. The England team gets a complete package when they play Liam.
