ICC T20I Player of the Year 2021 Nominee: A day after releasing the nominees of the ICC Test Player of the Year 2021, the global cricket body, on Wednesday, released the list of nominees of the ICC T20I Player of the Year 2021. Four cricketers have been shortlisted by the ICC after learning about their performances in 2021.
England wicketkeeper batsman Jos Buttler has been named alongside Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and Pakistani batsman Mohammad Rizwan.
Mitchell Marsh:
Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been in a phenomenal run in 2021. Marsh not only remained Australia’s best T20I batsman but also led them to their maiden T20I World Cup title in 2021.
After Finch’s early wicket in the final, Marsh took the charge with David Warner and ensured Australia’s maiden success in the shortest format.
Mitchell Marsh aggregate 627 runs in 27 T20I matches at an average of 36.88 and also picked up 8 wickets.

Jos Buttler:
England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler kicked off his 2021 with two blistering knocks against India. The ace cricketer continued his stellar form throughout the year and has been nominated for the ICC T20I cricketer of the year 2021.
Buttler scored 589 runs with his willow at an average of 65.44. He plundered these many runs in just 14 matches. Moreover, the wicketkeeper showcased his brilliant handwork by dismissing 13 batters.
Mohammad Rizwan:
Mohammad Rizwan’s 2021 in the T20I cricketer is nothing short of a dream. The Pakistani cricketer amassed a staggering 1326 runs at a monstrous average of 73.66 for his team in the T20Is. He took only 29 innings to collect a pile of runs for Pakistan.
The recent ICC T20 World Cup 2021 was his biggest highlight as he scored 281 runs at an average of 70.25.
Wanindu Hasaranga:
Sri Lanka’s spin wizard experienced a breakthrough year in the shortest format cricket. After playing in home conditions, it was Hasaranga’s time to showcase his spin prowesses in the T20 World Cup 2021.
He played a crucial role in the Sri Lankan campaign in the entire tournament. He ended the World Cup 2021 as the leading wicket-taker with 16 scalps while he also made some handy contributions with his bat.
Overall in 20 T20I matches, Wanindu Hasaranga scalped 36 wickets and amassed 196 runs including one half-century.
