England visited India on the back of a drawn Ashes Test series and a record of not lossing a test series since June 2022. England team played a unique brand of cricket since the duo of Ben Stokes and Brandon McCullum took over the command of the test that resulted in the ultimate success for their team until they visited India.
Even though England won the first game of the five-match test series but it lasted as the only test won by them as India didn’t allow them to make any gains after the first test. Although, England put up good fights in next three test at Vishakhapatnam, Rajkot and then in Ranchi as well, they gave up in crucial moments and India took the edge over.
New Zealand and Australia played a two match test series in New Zealand where the visitors were all over the hosts. Australia were too good for the New Zealand side as they won the first test by 173 runs and the second by 3 wickets.
After these test series, there have been major ups and downs for many players included in both series. First and the most famous name is Yashasvi Jaiswal. He started the series from 29th rank and after the five matches he played, he is now ranked 8th.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also climbed 5 spots to find himself in 6th position. Virat Kohli is the third Indian in the top 10 batting rankings and he is there with 737 rating.
Daryl Mitchell have also got upgrades after his impactful innings against Australia. After two outings in the second Test against New Zealand, Australia’s veteran Steve Smith slips to fifth place. Behind Williamson and England’s Joe Root in second place are Pakistani right-hander Babar Azam and Kiwi batsman Daryl Mitchell in a tie for third place.
As India easily won the fifth and final Test match of their series, Ashwin was at his magnificent best throughout the match in Dharamsala against England. The seasoned right-armer claimed four wickets in the first innings and then took a fifer in the second innings.
With the massive haul, Ashwin overtook Bumrah to reclaim the top spot that he had earlier in the year. Bumrah now shares second place with Australian seamer Josh Hazlewood who took six wickets in the second Test against New Zealand in Christchurch.
