ICC Test Ranking of Team India Players – Batters
Below is the ICC Test Ranking of Team India Players ahead of the IND vs ENG 5-match test series:
1 – Virat Kohli – 775 Rating
Former Indian captain Virat Kohli continues to be India’s top batter in the test format as of January 2024. With 775 rating points, Kohli is ranked at the sixth spot in the overall ICC rankings. Virat achieved his career-best rating back in 2018 when he clocked 937 ratings during his period of dominating run.
He ruled the ICC test ranking charts for several years before seeing a decline in his form. However, he again resurrected his position in the table with some good performances in the last series held against South Africa.
2 – Rohit Sharma – 748 Rating
The current Indian captain, Rohit Sharma is also ranked in the list of 10 top test cricketers currently. With an overall ranking of 748, Rohit is placed at the 10th spot, behind Australia’s Usman Khawaja.
Sharma attained his career-best test rating (813) during India’s last England tour in 2021 where he managed to score 368 runs in four innings. His performance saw a slight decline lately during the India tour of South Africa, however, he will be one of India’s key players during the upcoming India vs England test series.
3 – Ravindra Jadeja – 562 Rating
All-Rounder Ravindra Jadeja is the fourth top-ranked Indian cricketer in the ICC Test Ranking. Wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant is ranked third, but he is not currently involved in any cricket action, hence not included in the list.
Jadeja has a rating of 562 and is ranked 40th in the overall ICC rankings. He attained his career-best rating (605) in 2023 against Australia in the batting department.
4 – Shreyas Iyer – 556 Rating
The fourth-best ranking among the active Indian cricketers is achieved by Shreyas Iyer with 556 points. The middle-order batter is overall ranked 42nd in the ICC rankings and is tied with New Zealand’s Henry Nicholls.
He achieved his career-best rating (666) in 2022 against Bangladesh.
5 – Shubman Gill – 535 Rating
Young opening batter Shubman Gill enjoyed a decent run in test cricket owing to which he achieved an overall 49th ranking in the ICC Test Rankings. The right-handed batter got his career-best (562) during the last England tour of India in 2021.
