ICC Test Rankings Men?s: Rohit Sharma reaches eighth spot, Ashwin climbs to 3rd.
ICC Test Rankings Men?s: Indian dashing opener, Rohit Sharma moves six places to attain his career-best ratings in the recent ICC Men?s Test Batsmen Rankings after his consistent performance in India vs England test series.
Rohit Sharma was the highest run-scorer in the first innings (66 Runs) while he ended unbeaten in the second innings (25 Runs) and finished the game with the six. He crossed his teammate Cheteshwar Pujara in the recent rankings and achieved 742 rating points. In the latest ICC Test Ranking for Batsmen, he acquired the eighth spot.
The batting chart is led by New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson with 919 rating points while Australian Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne sit at number two and three with 891 and 878 rating points respectively. England skipper Joe Root and Indian skipper Virat Kohli have retained their places in the recent ICC rankings.
Root with 853 points is at number 4 while Virat Kohli with 836 points retains his fifth position.
Star bowlers of the last two test games, Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin also climbs up in the ICC rankings. With the help of 11 wickets in the third game, Axar Patel jumps 30 places to reach the 38th position in the ICC ranking for bowlers while Ravichandran Ashwin?s seven wickets rocketed him to the third place.
Ashwin is only behind Australian Pat Cummins (908 rating points) and Kiwi pacer Neil Wagner (825 rating points) in the bowlers ranking in Test cricket. Ashwin has 823 rating points and currently sits at number 3.
English spinner, Jack Leach has also entered into the top 30 of the ICC Test bowlers ranking owing to his four-wickets in the pink ball test match.
ICC Test rankings. (Batsmen) ?The change will not impact the way the rankings are calculated but what it means is that instead of rankings being updated at the end of a series (in ODIs and T20Is) or a Test match, they may be updated while a series or match is ongoing without performances in those matches being considered,? ICC said in a release.
