We are in the ICC World Cup 2023 year and all the focus has been on the mega event that is slated to take place in India during the month of October and November. The cricket extravaganza will begin from 5th October and will conclude on 19th November.
The Indian team will be one of the favourites heading into the tournament. They will have an added advantage as they will be playing at home. It’ll be a great opportunity for the Rohit Sharma-led side to end their ICC Trophy drought and win their first-ever title since 2013. They will open their campaign against Australia in 8th October in Chennai.
Going into the tournament there will be quite a few key players for India. The big names in Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and other needs to step up if India needs to fancy their chances of winning. As per the reports BCCI have shortlisted 20 players for the tournament and 15 among them will make it into the squad.
They will be having good preparation as India is scheduled to play 12 ODIs ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023. Their road to the tournament will begin with the three-match series against West Indies and after that, they will be playing Asia Cup followed by the ODI series against Australia.
The Asia Cup along with the Australia series will be a great challenge for them as they will be against the best teams in the world. It’ll also be an opportunity for the team to rectify the combination and finalise the squad for the main event.
