ICC World Cup 2023: Jos Buttler leaves out Virat Kohli as he picks his first 5 players for Dream ODI X1

The ICC World Cup 2023 is just three days away from now. The preparations for the tournament are in full flow as all the teams are giving their best to get battle-ready for the mega event. Teams have started arriving in India and in the next few days, the warmup games will begin as well. The tournament will open with a blockbuster clash between England and New Zealand on 5th October.

England skipper Jos Buttler has picked his first 5 players for Dream ODI X1 ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023. What caught the attention of many he didn’t pick ODI great Virat Kohli. The Indian batter is one of the finest to have played the game. 

Jos Buttler’s first pick was Indian captain Rohit Sharma. The batter is one of the best openers to have played in ODIs. His consistently and ability to hit big shots at the top have been the highlight of his career. He’s expected to play a huge role in the ICC World Cup 2023. 

South Africa keeper-batter Quinton de Kock also made cut into the Jos Buttler’s first 5 players for Dream ODI X1. The proteas batter has been one of the finest to have played the game. He has announced his retirement from the format and will playing ICC World Cup 2023 last.

Buttler also backed Glenn Maxwell to be in his team. The Australian all-rounder is one of the most valuable players for his team and has batted and bowled with same intensity. He will be one of the exciting players to play in the ICC World Cup 2023. 

South African pacer Anrich Nortje too feature in Jos Buttler’s top 5 players. The pacer unfortunately has been ruled out of the ICC World Cup 2023 with the injury and his absence will leave a massive void for South Africa. 

Buttler then picked his teammate Adil Rashid as his last player. The leg-spinner has been the backbone of the England’s bowling lineup since a while now and it’s fair to say that he will play a big role for his team in the ICC World Cup 2023.
