ICC World Cup 2023 Qualifier Sri Lanka Schedule, Squad, Match List, Venue: The ICC has released the groups and schedule for the Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, which is Scheduled to be held in Zimbabwe from June 18, 2023. The tournament will be held between ten teams divided into two groups.

Each group’s top two performing teams will advance to the Super Six phase of the Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers. During this phase, teams will face off against opponents from the opposite group, and the points earned against other Super Six teams from their original group will be carried over.

The best two teams from the Super Six Phase will secure the final spot for the ten- tournament in India and will compete in a qualifier match for a desirable place in the World Cup.

ICC World Cup 2023 Team List:

Group A Teams:

West Indies, Zimbabwe, USA, Nepal, and Netherlands.

Group B Teams:

Teams of group B are Sri Lanka, Ireland, Scotland, Oman, and UAE.

World Cup 2023 Scenario Sri Lanka:

Currently, Sri Lanka is placed in Group B for the world cup qualifiers and other teams in Group B are Ireland, Scotland, Oman, and UAE. Sri Lanka will be facing these teams in the group stage matches.

if Sri Lanka wins the matches in this group stage against these teams, then they will qualify for the Super Six phase, where they will be facing other qualified teams from Group A, If they win in Super Six Phase they will be qualified for the ODI Cricket World Cup which is going to be held in India.

Why Sri Lanka Failed to Qualify for World Cup 2023 through Super League?

With the series defeat by 2-0 against New Zealand, Sri Lanka failed to secure their spot in the top eight of the ICC Super League, in which the top eight teams directly qualify for the world cup. 

Now they need to play Qualifier matches along with West Indies and many other teams to qualify for the World Cup.
