ICC World Cup 2023 Schedule to be changed again: Troubles for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seem to be far from over, as a fresh concern turns up in the BCCI’s way of hosting the ICC World Cup 2023 in October-November. Even after days of revealing the revised ICC World Cup 2023 Schedule, the BCCI is still amidst deep troubles relating to its scheduling pattern.
As per the report published in the Indian Express, the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) is left unimpressed with how BCCI has gone about its scheduling. In the revised schedule, HCA is set to host back-to-back matches, which raises a security concern.
HCA is slated to stage a fixture between New Zealand and Netherlands on October 9 and the very next day i.e., on October 10, it will have the onus to host Pakistan vs Sri Lanka game.
Considering the security challenge, the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has reached out to the BCCI with an official request to increase the gap between the two scheduled World Cup 2023 games on October 9 and 10.
Furthermore, the HCA has alleged that none of the BCCI officials had consulted the concerned cricket association regarding the change in the date of the fixture. It added that it was police officials who warned the HCA about security concerns on consecutive days of play.
It is noteworthy that, a fixture of the stature of the World Cup requires huge security force deployment at the venue. Around 3000 police personnel will be required at the venue, while an additional group of security forces will be deployed at the hotel where the Pakistani cricketers will be staying.
It will be interesting to see how the apex body reacts to the request made by the HCA. As of now, the BCCI seems to be unmoved by the request.
A couple of weeks back, the BCCI announced the revised schedule for the ICC World Cup 2023. As many as nine fixtures were rescheduled following security concerns in Ahmedabad and Kolkata.
The rescheduled fixtures for the ICC World Cup 2023 included the most-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash in Ahmedabad, which will be held on October 14 and Australia vs South Africa clash on October 12 among others.
