Indian batter Shubman Gill tested positive for dengue ahead of the team’s first game in ICC World Cup 2023 against Australia. He was ruled out of the match as he was having high fever and also will be missing the game against Afghanistan on Wednesday (11th October) 

But the latest reports in PTI have suggested worse things. It is learned that Shubman Gill was hospitalised in Chennai after his platelet count dropped a bit. With him not keeping well, it is also reported that he’s likely to be unfit for the game against Pakistan, which will be played on 14th October. 

After the reports from PTI hogged the headlines, a new report in News 18 related to the Shubman Gill also emerged. As per that, the young India batter has been showing constant improvement and spent a night for observation in the Hospital on October 8th.

On 9th October Shubman Gill was back in the hotel and is working well. He will be taking a few more days to recover and might miss the clash against Pakistan. India will be hoping that he recovers soon as he will be crucial for them in the ICC World Cup 2023.

Recently BCCI also provided a medical update on Shubman Gill after the game against Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023. They confirmed that young batter has been ruled out of the game against Afghanistan and he didn’t travel with them. The statement read: 

“Team India batter Shubman Gill will not be travelling with the team to Delhi on 9th October 2023. The opening batter who missed the team’s first fixture in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia in Chennai is set to miss the team’s next fixture against Afghanistan in Delhi on the 11th of October. He will stay back in Chennai and will be under the supervision of the medical team.”

Shubman Gill is the leading run-getter in ODIs this year. He has scored over 1200 runs and also has 5 centuries to his tally.
