ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final postponed, will be held from 18th June.

ICC World Test Championship (WTC): International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday announced that the finals of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) will be delayed due to the unfavourable conditions. Earlier the final at Lords was scheduled to begin from June 10-14 while the revised dates are from 18th June to 22nd June and 23rd June will be reserve day.

According to the reports of ANI, the change in the dates was forced after taking into consideration the Indian Premier League (IPL) window. The dates of IPL is not revealed by the authorities. While the other reason is, if players will be subjected to any quarantine protocols then there must be enough time to get prepared for the final action.

Currently, India and New Zealand are seated in the top two places in the ICC WTC points table. India with the 430 points and New Zealand have collected 420 points after playing five series each.

India will have one major series against England next month while Australia will play against South Africa. Right now Aussies are at number three and if they want to play the finals they will have to win the series against South Africa.

Revised points system of ICC World Test Championship:

Last year the ICC decided to revise the points system after the game was affected by the covid-19 pandemic. The revised system ranks the teams based on the percentage of the points earned in the series. In this case, a win is important but the winning percentage is also important.

As a part of the ICC World Test Championship, England and India will play a four-game test series in India. The series will begin on 5th February 2021. The first two games will be hosted in Chennai while the last two will be hosted in Motera Stadium.

If India wins the series, it will be almost certain that India will be one of the teams in the finals of ICC WTC. While we will have to keep a check on the second team.
