ICC WTC Final: The clock is ticking for the World Test Championship Final. After displaying an exceptional brand of cricket, the Indian Cricket team has managed to reach the final of the tournament for the second consecutive time. They will now face Australia in the main event at Oval England from the 7th to the 11th of June.
ICC WTC Final: 2 players who might not get a chance in the Indian XI for World Test Championship Final against Australia
BCCI recently announced the squad for the ICC World Test Championship Final against Australia. With only 11 players to take the field out of 15 players, we will take a look at players who might not get a chance in the Indian XI for the summit clash against Australia.
1. Axar Patel
All-rounder Axar Patel might be one of the players who have to warm the bench for the ICC WTC Final against Australia. In English conditions, we have seen that the Indian team goes with the combination of 4 pacers and 1 spinner, which potentially will be R Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja. Even if India opts to go for two spinners, Axar won’t get a chance as falls third in the pecking order. The all-rounder has been going through a purple patch in his career as has been contributing equally well with both bat and ball. But it’ll be very unfortunate that he might have to sit on the bench for the final.
2. Jaydev Undakat
Jaydev Unadkat recently made a comeback into the Indian squad after his stellar performances in the Bangladesh series. He played a Test match against Bangladesh but warmed the bench for the entire series against Australia. There’s no brainer that Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj will be the three front-line pacers and Jaydev’s tussle will be with Shardul Thakur for the fourth seamer. But with the kind of performance Shardul has exhibited in the overseas conditions both with bat and ball, it’s likely that he will get the nod ahead and Unadkat might have to sit out.
