ICC WTC Final: Revealed! Why Ajinkya Rahane was Picked in the Indian Squad for World Test Championship Final
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday (25th April) named the Indian squad for the ICC World Test Championship Final. The squad had some petty familiar names in it but one name that caught the attention of many was Ajinkya Rahane.
The batter was dropped from the Indian side in January last year due to his poor form of run and also was terminated from the BCCI annual contracts. However, he showed great form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, which potentially can be the reason behind his selection.

Not only this, he showed great form in the domestic season as he scored over 600 runs. But with Sarfaraz Khan also piling up huge amounts of runs, many didn’t like the decision to add Rahane to the team as they felt that the latter deserved a chance.
But the reason behind picking Rahane has been revealed. It is learned as per the reports in Telegraph that skipper Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid were very keen to have Rahane in the WTC final for his experience. It is also learned that both management and selectors were in talks with his name as injury for few players and lack of options.
