The road to T20 World Cup 2024 for the India team and the ICC World Test Championship 2025 has begun for Indian team. Their preparations for both the events kick started with the recently concluded South Africa tour, where they played T20I, ODI and Test series.
The next focus will be the T20I series against Afghanistan and the five-Test series against England. The three games against Afghanistan will be played from 11th January to 17th January whereas the Tests will begin from 25th January and will continue till March.
The squad for both series are likely to give a clear picture of the future of the Indian team in the T20Is as well as the Tests. For the T20Is, it will be keen to see if Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli return to the team, especially with T20 World Cup 2024 around the corner.
With all the speculation about the squad for both the series, the wait is about to get over. The reports in Express Sports have suggested that BCCI will be announcing the squad for the T20I series against Afghanistan and two Tests against England on Friday (15th January).

The reports also added that Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav will be missing the T20I series due to injuries. Whereas Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are likely to be rest for the T20Is to keep themselves fresh for the Test series against Afghanistan.
It is also learned that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have told BCCI that they will available for the selection in T20Is. Therefore there are high chances that the duo might be picked for the upcoming series against Afghanistan.
